A simple idea could turn into a small rough draft, which could turn into a project, which could then transform to a finished piece of work, and finally, this magnificent piece of work could inspire someone else to go through the same process. It’s a cycle. How was that project accumulated? Through creativity. Creativity is a beautiful gift that can be put to use in so many different ways.
Everyone naturally has creativity, and everyone naturally has a mind. The thing is, everyone’s mind is different, therefore everyone’s “creativity” is different. For example, in the worksheet Mrs. Rutan handed us today where we created images out of the simplest things such as a plain dot. Some people saw the dot as an eye in a smiley face, some people saw the dot as the middle of a flower, some people saw the dot as the pupil in an eyeball. Creativity is the way people perceive things. Creativity is also the way people imagine things. Last year in my English 2 with Dr. Schoffield, something we would do as a class was read the setting part of a chapter in Of Mice and Men. Afterwards, we would draw ten things we read onto a piece of blank paper and we would color it. Not a single person’s drawing looked similar to another, and that’s because everyone has different styles of thinking. Different styles of creativity! The way people solve problems is another example of creativity. Some people have the capability to think outside of the box and come to a solution a separate but equally effective route. In eighth grade, my science teacher Mrs. Renner created a challenge for all of the classes to try. I kind of remember getting a small bucket into a bigger bucket using only a rope and not going within fifteen feet of either bucket. We had thirty minutes. Two out of the four completed the challenge successfully but each class tried to solve it differently. That just shows how different everyone’s mind is. Four different classes tried four different solutions which proves that people automatically think differently than others without even trying to. Creativity is how people conjure new ideas to create amazing new things. Picasso uses creativity to design so many beautiful pieces of art. It would leave anyone that looked at his work in awe because all of that came from his head. Mozart used his creativity to produce all of these different symphonies and sounds that naturally flowed together, and that is purely incredible. Stephen King uses his skills to construct stories that are so diverse from all others, and that’s all because he has a different style of creativity than the rest of writers. The word creativity is defined in Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “the ability to make new things or think of new ideas”. Our world is ever-changing. In this fast-advancing society, we need people who can perceive, imagine, solve, and create things differently. We need diversity in order to succeed. Creativity is a necessity for our society. Picture a world where everyone thought exactly the same. That’d be a pretty bland place, wouldn’t it be? This is an example of my work from my Creative Writing class. There will be some more of my works along with this piece on my website.
